CRUISIN' FOR A BRUISIN': NIGHT ONE
6.25.26

In-Ring Segment

BRINGIN' THE HEAT

The camera pans across the shimmering Pacific, capturing the vibrant night celebrations off the Hawaiian coast. Following the fallout of AOWF 5: Homicide in Hawaii, the inaugural night of Cruisin’ For a Bruisin’—a collaborative production between Reality Check TV and Three-Thirty Vibes Productions—is officially ready to launch.

Yet, before the action truly begins, the salt-thick air hums with anticipation. The floating monolith of the SS Powerbomb stands as a beacon of neon light against the obsidian waves, hosting a crowd that has traveled from across the globe for this historic three-night odyssey.

It wouldn’t be a proper spectacle without a few early-evening surprises.

The "Some Kind of Monster" riffs by Metallica blare through the high-tech sound system of the Ultra Quantum Class SS Powerbomb. Vito Valentino—the event's mastermind, organizer, and reigning SHOOT Project Premier Champion—emerges from the lower decks on the starboard side, greeted by an explosive ovation from the crowd.

Sarah Zervas, Vito's fiancée, is already positioned in the ring, holding a microphone and wearing a radiant, shimmering dress that matches the evening's aesthetic. Upon reaching her, Vito shares a laugh and plants a kiss on her cheek. Standing together in the center of the ring, the power couple of Reality Check TV prepares to address the thousands of fans watching live from the deck and millions streaming at home.

Vito Valentino: How’s everybody doin’ tonight? I trust everyone’s had a comfy and cozy couple of days already? The amenities provided to you by us have been alright?

Vito takes a breath, the roar of the crowd momentarily washing over him before he leans into the microphone, the pink-tinted shades coming down to cover his eyes.

Vito Valentino: How’s everybody doin’ tonight? I trust everyone’s had a comfy and cozy couple of days already? The amenities provided to you by us have been alright?

He waits for the cheer to die down, pacing the ring with the comfortable gait of a man who owns the ground he walks on.

Vito Valentino: You know, standing here, looking out at all of youse—people from every corner of the globe—it hits me. It really hits me. Long before I ever laced up a pair of boots, long before I ever thought about stepping inside a squared circle to crack some ribs, I was a businessman. Yeah, a businessman! I was the kid in Bay Ridge trying to figure out how to squeeze a dime into a dollar. I was building arcades, moving product, looking for the next angle. I always had that entrepreneurial fire burning in my gut. I wanted to build things. I wanted to create something that lasted.

Vito Valentino: My Pops… God rest his soul… he was a hard man to please, but he understood the hustle. He respected the grind. He’d sit in his chair, puffin’ on that cigar, watchin’ me work my tail off, and he’d nod. He’d say, 'Vito, you got the gift. You’re a multiple venture kind of guy.' He liked that. He liked that I didn’t just put my eggs in one basket.

A brief pause.

Vito Valentino: But then I’d tell him about the wrestling. I’d tell him I was heading to the ring to bleed, to fight, to put my body on the line. And he’d look at me like I’d just set his life savings on fire. He’d shake his head and say, 'Vito, why? Why you wanna waste your talents in the most unforgiving industry on the planet? It’s a meat grinder, kid. You got a brain for business; don't waste it in a business that breaks you.' He never got it. He didn't see the art in it, or the strategy. He just saw the pain.

Another pause, this one a little longer than the last as everyone listens intently.

Vito Valentino: But tonight? Tonight, I think he’d get it. Because this right here? Cruisin’ For A Bruisin’? This ain’t just wrestling. This is the marriage of everything I am. It’s the entrepreneur, the organizer, the man who wants to build something bigger than himself. And I couldn’t have done this alone. I gotta give mad respect to the people who helped me put this entire extravaganza together. The team at SHOOT Project? They saw the vision. Reality Check TV? They gave me the tools to make it happen.

The fans cheer on Vito with enormous respect.

Vito Valentino: I’m just a kid from Brooklyn, standing on a floating monolith in the middle of the fuckin’ Pacific, and I’m just… heh… I’m just HUMBLED by all this. I’m truly honored to be allowed this opportunity. So, get your drinks, buckle up, and watch history. Because this show? It’s for the dreamers. It’s for the hustlers. And Pops? This one’s for you.

The SmashShow points his microphone up into the air, blowing a kiss up to the heavens. Wiping away a tear, Vito takes a beat. Then, he laughs.

Vito Valentino: But I’m not about to start this bitch on a DOWNER. No, no, NO! In fact, I have a surprise for y’all, right out of the gate. Allow me to introduce the announce team. I’m not sure which one is really play-by-play and which one is really the color commentator, but everyone catching this via streaming? You’re in for one fuckin’ treat.

“Cochise” by Audioslave hits the speakers and the entire crowd becomes unglued.

The Instant Heat theme hits hard in the hearts of all, and none other than its original members, Real Deal and X-Calibur, come strolling out from the portside lower deck.

The crowd loses their collective mind as the Hall of Famers and lifelong friends outside of the business, make their way to the tiki bar behind the ring. Their presence as the surprise announce team for the evening sets the tone for the historic three-night odyssey aboard the SS Powerbomb.

“IN-STANT-HEAT! IN-STANT-HEAT!”

“HO-LY SHIT! HO-LY SHIT!”

“IN-STANT-HEAT! IN-STANT-HEAT!”

“HO-LY SHIT! HO-LY SHIT!”

The rhythmic chanting of the thousands in attendance vibrates through the steel hull of the SS Powerbomb, drowning out the crashing Pacific waves. Real Deal and X-Calibur take their seats, adjusting their headsets as they prepare to call the clinical dismantling and high-stakes matches scheduled for Night One, with the SHOOT Project Empire State Championship up for grabs first!

SHOOT PROJECT EMPIRE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
RICKY TENET
Champion
VS
AVALANCHE ANDERSON
Challenger

X-Calibur: Well. Ain’t this some shit?! I can’t remember the last time I heard “Cochise”. Hahaha.

Real Deal: You and me both!

X-Calibur: I love that they set up commentary at the tiki bar, too.

Real Deal: From what I gather, drinks are all comped, too.

X-Calibur: (immediately turns around) Pomegranate mojito for me. Josh, what do you want?

Real Deal: Ummm… I dunno.

X-Calibur: C’mon, dude. This is practically a vacation for us. Don’t make me drink alone!

Real Deal: (sighs) Pineapple habanero margarita.

X-Calibur: Ooooooh! Nice! (turning to bar tender) you heard the man!

As X and Real Deal order their drinks, Sarah Zervas stands in the center of the ring again.

Sarah Zervas: Ladies and gentlemen, the first match ever on Cruisin’ For a Bruisin’, is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the SHOOT Project Empire State Championship!

X-Calibur: Yeeeeah buddy! We got drinks, we got the sun, and we got some fucking wrestling. What more could anyone ask for?

Real Deal: For it not to rain.

X-Calibur: Jesus, I didn’t even think of that. What happens if that happens?

Real Deal: I have no idea. Rain delay?

Sarah Zervas: Making his way to the ring first… he is the challenger! From Miami, Florida, and weighing in at 350lbs, he represents The Grapplers Guild… AVALAAAAAANCHE…ANDERSON!

X-Calibur: Av is fucking huge. Jesus.

Real Deal: Yeah he is a big boi, for sure. Ricky needs to utilize his speed here or we could see a new Empire State Champion!

Sarah Zervas: Making his way out next… from New York, New York… weighing in at 225lbs… he is the SHOOT Project Empire State Champion… RIIIIIICCCKYYY… TENET!

X-Calibur: Man, Ricky looks GREAT. You wouldn’t know that he went through hell at AOWF 5.

Real Deal: Agreed. Ricky really could take this title to new heights.

X-Calibur: Don’t let Johnny Napalm hear you say that! He’s got more than a bone to pick after losing his third Empire State Title run. That hand was clearly on the ropes.

Real Deal: It was, but the referee’s decision is final. We all make mistakes. If Johnny wants a rematch, all he has to do is ask.

Senior Official Landon Michaels is set to officiate this opening contest, and once Ricky Tenet hands him the title, Landon holds it up for the souls on board! Avalanche looks ready to pounce, but he stays in his corner until the bell sounds.

DING! DING! DING!

The bell’s final echo hasn't even faded before Avalanche Anderson explodes out of his corner like a runaway freight train. He’s looking to end this in seconds, a human landslide designed to bury the champion under three hundred and fifty pounds of Florida beef. Ricky Tenet, however, is a man whose internal GPS is calibrated for disaster. He drops low, a sleek shadow against the canvas, and Avalanche’s momentum carries him chest-first into the turnbuckles with a sound like a car hitting a brick wall.

X-Calibur: WHOA! If Ricky hadn’t moved, he’d be a hood ornament right now! Avalanche is looking to turn this cruise ship into a crime scene early!

Real Deal: That’s the size-speed dynamic in a nutshell, X. Avalanche is the hammer, but Ricky is the fly. You can’t hit what you can’t catch.

Ricky doesn't wait for Avalanche to reset. He’s on the challenger instantly, peppering the big man’s trunk-like legs with a series of lightning-fast roundhouse kicks. Each strike makes a sickening THWACK that carries over the Pacific breeze. Ricky leaps, catching the top rope and springing back with a beautiful disaster kick that staggers the giant. The crowd on the SS Powerbomb is unglued, the deck swaying as five thousand fans stomp in rhythm with the champion’s offense.

X-Calibur: Look at Tenet go! He’s sticking and moving, Josh! It’s like watching a mosquito take down a grizzly bear!

Real Deal: It’s smart. You gotta take the wheels off a truck before you can dismantle the engine. But he’s playing with fire staying this close.

Ricky goes for the kill early, hitting the ropes for a springboard crossbody, but the "nautical physics" of the Pacific intervene. The ship takes a sudden, heavy swell to the starboard side. Ricky’s footing falters just enough to kill his momentum. In mid-air, the "mosquite" is swatted. Avalanche catches him out of the sky with a bearhug that looks like it’s going to pop Ricky like a balloon. The air leaves the champion’s lungs in a visible puff of mist.

X-Calibur: OH NO! The ocean just tagged in for Avalanche! Ricky’s getting his ribs turned into sawdust!

Avalanche doesn't just squeeze; he marches. He carries the struggling champion to the center of the ring and launches him with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex that sends Ricky nearly halfway across the ring. Ricky hits the canvas hard, skipping once like a stone before coming to a halt. Avalanche isn't done. He looms over Tenet, the "Avalanche" finally living up to the name. He drops a series of massive leg drops, each one vibrating the ring boards.

Real Deal: This is where it gets ugly. Avalanche is heavy, X. Every time he leaves his feet and comes back down on you, it’s like a filing cabinet falling from a three-story building.

The challenger drags Ricky up, his eyes wide and predatory. He whips Ricky into the corner with such force that the champion’s feet actually leave the mat on impact. Avalanche charges, hitting a corner splash that seems to compress Ricky’s entire skeletal structure. He pulls him out, hooks the arms, and delivers a spinning powerbomb. The cover is academic.

Landon slides into position for the count!

ONE!

TWO!

THR-NO!

Ricky shoots a shoulder up at 2.99999. The crowd gasps. Avalanche looks at the referee, then back at his prey. He isn't frustrated yet; he’s methodical. He drags Ricky to the corner and starts to ascend the ropes. This is the "Big Splash"—the end of the line.

X-Calibur: Don’t do it, Av! You’ll sink the ship! Think of the families!

Avalanche flies. Three hundred and fifty pounds of bad intentions descend upon Ricky Tenet. BOOM. The impact is catastrophic. Ricky’s body actually bounces off the canvas. Avalanche hooks the leg, pulling it back so far Ricky’s chin is nearly touching his knee.

Real Deal: Sweet Mother… that has GOT to be it!

ONE!

TWO!

THREE–

–NO! NO! RICKY SHOULDERS OUT AT THE LAST SECOND!

Ricky Tenet kicks out again. He is a ghost that refuses to be exorcised. Avalanche Anderson is livid now. He drags Ricky up by his hair, shouting in his face, but he misses the fire starting to burn in the champion’s eyes. Ricky fires a sudden, desperate headbutt that stuns the giant. He follows up with a flurry of knife-edge chops that turn Avalanche’s chest into raw hamburger.

X-Calibur: THE CHAMP IS RALLYING! Ricky Tenet is finding that second wind in the middle of the ocean!

Ricky hits the ropes, ducking a clothesline, then another. He comes back with a sliding lariat that finally takes Avalanche off his feet. The big man hits the mat, and the SS Powerbomb seems to groan under the weight. Ricky is a blur now, hitting a standing moonsault, then a second. He’s building to his finisher, the crowd chanting his name in a deafening crescendo.

Real Deal: He’s got him where he wants him, X! Avalanche is reeling! One more big move and we’re going home with the champ!

Ricky sets up for a final, high-impact running knee. He sprints across the ring, the wind at his back. But Avalanche Anderson isn't done. As Ricky closes the distance, Avalanche catches him mid-stride. In one fluid, terrifying motion, he hoists Ricky into the air, spins him 360 degrees with the force of a hurricane, and slams him into the canvas with a devastating swinging sidewalk slam. The sound isn't a crack; it’s a thud that ends the conversation.

X-Calibur: OH MY GOD! A SIDEWALK SLAM FROM FUCKING HELL!

Avalanche collapses onto Ricky, not even bothering to hook the leg. He just lays his massive weight across the champion’s broken frame.

Landon is right there again.

ONE!

TWO!

THREE!

NO! NO! AGAIN! AGAIN, RICKY HAS KICKED OUT!!

X-Calibur: I have no goddamned idea how in the hell Ricky is doing this.

Real Deal: He’s as stubborn as his old man, that’s for sure.

X-Calibur: For better or for worse.

X-Calibur: Look at Avalanche, Josh! He’s leaning against the turnbuckle, gasping for air like he’s trying to swallow the entire Pacific Ocean! I think the big man is finally running on fumes!

Real Deal: That’s the opening! Ricky has to capitalize right now! If he hesitates, Anderson is just going to find a second wind and bury him!

Ricky Tenet pushes himself up, his ribs taped and screaming in protest. He’s a broken man, but his eyes are locked onto his target. He lunges, diving at the ropes. Instead of bouncing back, he leaps, utilizing the bottom rope as a springboard to generate every ounce of remaining torque in his weary body. He catches the gargantuan Avalanche Anderson in a spinning, beautiful tornado DDT!

X-Calibur: Holy hell! He hit it!

Real Deal: One of the best tornado DDTs in the business!

The ring shakes as they collide, and the crowd—sensing the monumental shift—erupts into a deafening roar. Anderson lays flat, his massive frame motionless for the first time all night. Ricky, however, doesn't go for the pin.

X-Calibur: What the hell is he doing?!

Real Deal: I think he knows that tornado DDT won’t be enough to keep the beast down.

Ricky scrambles to his feet, wincing as the agony in his ribs flares, and rolls over the top rope, staggering onto the apron.

He grips the top rope, pulling himself up, his face a mask of pure grit. The target is laid out in the center of the ring. Ricky springboards to the top rope, his balance precarious as the ship rolls, but he locks it in. He leaps, tucking his legs in, flying like a missile across the ring. At the last possible millisecond, he extends his boots, delivering a devastating, picture-perfect double stomp that connects squarely with Anderson’s chest and face!

X-Calibur: ORBITAL RAILCANNON!!

Real Deal: Oh God. That was bruuuutal. He caught him in the face and chest as opposed to the mid-section. Anderson is in a bad way!

The impact is sickening. The air leaves Anderson’s lungs as he’s pinned to the canvas. Ricky doesn't wait. Tenet sits back on top of him, hooking both legs, burying his entire body into Anderson's chest.

ONE!

TWO!

THREE!

DING! DING! DING!

Sarah Zervas: The winner of this match… and STILL SHOOT Project Empire State Champion… RIIIIIICCCKYYY… TENET!

X-Calibur: What an opening match for Cruisin’ For a Bruisin’! I seriously thought Ricky’s title run was in jeopardy there when Avalanche Anderson went to the top with the splash!

Real Deal: But it was not to be! Like we’ve seen his Father rally so many times before, it’s in Ricky’s blood to take a man’s best shot, get up, dust himself off, and simply win.

X-Calibur: Now it looks like he’s going to be defending against Yorinobu Sakai when we head back to land for Zenith 17!

Real Deal: After this match, I wouldn’t be surprised if Yori feels like he has the advantage in that one!
